Xuper TV Black Screen Fix: When the App Opens to Nothing
What "black screen" actually means
Two different failures share the name. Black screen on launch means the app opens but never draws its interface. Black screen on playback means menus work fine but video shows nothing (sometimes with audio still playing). The fixes differ, so identify yours first.
Black screen on launch
1. Force stop and clear cache
Settings, Apps, Xuper TV, Force Stop, then Storage, Clear Cache. Relaunch. This alone fixes most launch black screens, which are usually a corrupted cached layout. Step-by-step with screenshots in how to clear Xuper TV cache.
2. Toggle hardware overlays (advanced)
On some devices the app's rendering fights the GPU compositor. In Developer Options, try toggling "Disable HW overlays". If the app suddenly works, leave it on; the battery cost is minor for a TV app.
3. Check for a bad update
If the black screen started right after you updated, the new build may disagree with your device. Uninstall and reinstall the last known-good build from our download page. Our update guide explains how to step back safely.
4. Reinstall clean
Uninstall, restart the device, install fresh. If the launch screen is still black after a clean install on a supported Android version, the issue is device-specific rendering, try the TV build or the phone build, whichever you are not using. The version comparison helps you pick.
Black screen during playback (menus work, video does not)
1. Switch server
A dead stream source often presents as a black player with working menus. Change the server or source in the player and retry.
2. Change the player engine
If the app offers an internal versus external player choice, switch it. Some devices decode better with one engine than the other.
3. Drop the quality one step
4K streams on underpowered sticks can fail to initialize the decoder, showing black instead of an error. Stepping down to 1080p confirms whether the decoder is the bottleneck.
4. Check audio-only symptom
If you hear sound but see black, the video track is failing while audio plays. This is almost always codec or server related, so server-switch first, reinstall second.
When nothing helps
Run the broader not working checklist to rule out network and storage causes. And if the app worked yesterday and broke today with no changes on your side, give it an hour: source-side outages produce exactly these symptoms.
